im doing a book report on “Girl with a pearl earring” and it takes place in Holland in the mid-late 1600′s. and we have to talk about that time period. please help? thank you! [& please include your reference, my teacher is a NUT about plagiarism] so i need information about the 1600′s, or information from an early time period that ties into something in the 1600′s. OR if you have read the book and see a correlation somewhere.

Some of the greatest minds in history were alive in the 17th century. Composers like Bach, Handel, Vivaldi, and Monteverdi. Notable figures like Oliver Cromwell, King Charles I, Cardinal Richelieu, and William Shakespeare at the end of his life.
Modern science has its’ roots in the 1600s with thinkers like Isaac Newton, Galileo Galilei, Francis Bacon, Descartes, Thomas Hobbs, and many more.
There was the Thirty Years War in Europe and the foundation of the first colonies in America.
Much more happened.
