Question by aahwehfuhals: Which philosophical topics/books are the most meaningful for a high schooler to explore and question and why?
I am doing an “inquiry project” in my sophomore honors english course. We are supposed to choose a topic and two books to research. After researching, we are supposed to write a persuasive essay and create a presentation. I chose to ask for your opinion because I want to write about something substantive and intriguing and applicable to the real world.
I would like to know what topic among the ones listed along with two recommended independent reading books you think is the most meaningful and interesting.
There were many more topics than these but I wanted to get some opinions on the novels and topics listed.
Topic 1. Government, Society, Class, Politics

Also, I was thinking about examining Topic 1 with two of the following books: “Demian” by Hesse; “The Republic” by Plato; “1984″ by George Orwell; “Metamorphosis” by Kafka.

You need to do more than list a few potential books for your topic. You need to present us with an, as you say, “substantive and intriguing” thesis. THEN and only then would we would able to lead you to the sources which would get you the most bang for your buck.
